Client: The Buckley Building
Key Factors: Reception Service
The Challenge: The Buckley Building, a brand new commercial development in Clerkenwell, required an experienced, multi-skilled team to manage the front of house duties both during and after the building’s renovation.
The Building Manager role was a complex one. Responsibilities included welcoming potential new tenants to the building, managing contractors, establishing general Reception duties; and implementing systems which would ensure the smooth day-to-day building management.
The Solution: Managing the whole recruitment process from start to finish, RUK recognized that the Building Manager position required more than general Reception experience, and that the ideal candidate would have extensive experience of this type of enhanced role. Instead of starting a lengthy recruitment process from scratch, RUK worked with the client to profile and identify the right candidate for this particular position – an existing employee of RUK, working at another of the client’s sites.
The result of RUK’s expertise in understanding the requirements was that the right candidate, already an experienced and skilled receptionist, was identified and put in place straight away. The candidate’s previous experience meant they understood the role, and with additional training and support from RUK, they could really hit the ground running.
RUK’s skilled and efficient management of recruitment ensured that The Building Manager and Reception team were already in place and ready to start even before the building opened. Managing the entire process from start to finish allowed RUK to save the client valuable time, as well as money.
The new Building Manager RUK appointed has relished the challenges of this varied role, and has excelled in this position: helping to oversee the building’s completion, assisting with contractor management and showing potential tenants around the building.
With the Buckley Building now fully open, the Building Manager liaises with the diverse mix of tenants – who include an award-winning restaurant – listening and responding to their individual requirements. Working with twenty five other building staff, the Building Manager is also the first port of call for all building matters, creating an environment of accessible information and communication.
RUK’s professional approach to co-ordination and communication has helped to develop a close-knit, dedicated team, who work hard together in the best interests of the client and the building’s tenants.
